Roy Shih
Roy Shih was born in Taoyuan in 1995 and holds an MFA from the Department of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts. An artist working with moving image and spatial installation, he serves as a contributing reporter at REFLECTION, where he focuses on in-depth artist interviews. His recent work turns to everyday movement as a way to explore the relationships between the body, the image and the archive. His piece The "wrong way" dash cam won second prize in the Photography and Video category of the 2023 Taoyuan Fine Arts Exhibition; the same year he held the solo exhibition Take You Somewhere at Tze Art Space in Hsinchu, and in 2025 presented the solo exhibition Pathfinder at glitch (supported by the National Culture and Arts Foundation), building a "guide to getting lost" through photography and installation. Bringing together an artist's background and a training in philosophy, his questions and writing carry a reflective depth, seeking in each interview to reach the thoughts an artist has not yet put into words.
