Taiwan's only selected space this year! ss space space will participate in the 2026 Liste Art Fair Basel, presenting the duo exhibition 'The Undefined Realm'.
(Basel, Switzerland / Taipei) Taiwanese artist-run space 'ss space space', which celebrates its third anniversary this June, has officially announced its participation in the globally renowned art fair, Liste Art Fair Basel (Booth 70), in June 2026. As the only Taiwanese art space selected for Liste this year, ss space space will collaborate with Taiwanese female artists Wang Te-Yu and Wu I-Hsuan, representing different generations, to challenge the international art fair with site-specific spatial installations.
Venturing into the Heart of International Contemporary Art: Liste's Experimental Spirit
Since its establishment in 1996, Liste Art Fair Basel has always been held concurrently with Art Basel and is renowned as the most important platform globally for discovering emerging art practices. Its highly experimental and critical approach makes it an essential destination for museum directors, international curators, and seasoned collectors to gauge the direction of contemporary art. ss space space's selection this time signifies that the research vision of Taiwanese artist-run spaces now possesses the resilience and energy to deeply connect with the international contemporary art context.

Curatorial Focus: Reconstructing the Spatial Politics of Perception
Titled 'Unstable Grounds', this duo exhibition explores the power structures of 'space-body-perception'. The exhibition also seeks to respond to Taiwan's unique position in the global order and transforms this into a new perspective for observing the world. The two artists explore the shaping of individuals by space from both macro and micro perspectives.Wang Te-Yureconfigures the exhibition space with minimalist, large-scale inflatable installations, guiding viewers to measure boundaries with their bodies as they navigate through and are compressed by them, and transforming the space into a perceptual field co-created with the body;Wu I-Hsuanstarts from modern domesticity and standardized living, suspending everyday order through sculpture and video, and revealing seemingly neutral material conditions as disciplinary forces that construct behavior and labor. In 'Unstable Grounds', the body acts as an active subject constantly negotiating between spatial conditions and historical experiences, and, by reshaping perceptual experiences, offers a crucial entry point for understanding power and modes of existence.

Booth Site: A Perceptual Experiment in Site-Specific Production and Site-Responsiveness
The booth site will adopt 'site-responsive' as its core methodology. Wang Te-Yu's work will construct the exhibition space with light yet tension-filled volumes, creating narrow passages that compel viewers to move intimately and circuitously, making the body a measuring tool for understanding space. Wu I-Hsuan's sculptures and video works will be placed within the spatial gaps formed by the inflatables, their scale and placement adjusted according to the circulation path, creating an intertextual narrative between 'micro-objects' and 'macro-space'.
