A mirror to art

Brand Philosophy

REFLECTION began with a simple idea: I wanted a place where I could read without distraction. A place free from pop-up ads when opening an article, and irrelevant messages inserted between paragraphs. When I shared a carefully crafted report with others, only to see its impact diluted by layers of advertisements, I decided that every report should be read completely and clearly. Our core mission is to "understand art," guiding readers to grasp the context and creator's motivation behind each work. An article, from its very first word to its final image, belongs entirely to itself.

Content Curation

REFLECTION's content is built upon in-depth reports, interviews with artists and curators, exhibition reviews, and video documentation. Our reports cover international biennials, art fairs, and gallery solo and group exhibitions, with a long-term focus on the visibility of Taiwanese artists and galleries in the global art scene. While primarily in Chinese, our content is also available in multiple languages, allowing readers from diverse cultural backgrounds to enter the world of art from their own perspectives.

Brand Extension

REFLECTION's content doesn't solely originate from exhibition venues; it also stems from our own direct experiences. We cultivate two primary sources of first-hand content: First, our Art Express Private Tours, which are in-depth offline guided tours. Viki personally researches and leads participants through significant international exhibitions, offering accessible insights and detailed readings on-site. These observations then become the foundation for our reports and special features. Second, Subtlehaus, our artist residency space located in Sakai City, Osaka, Japan. Artists stay and create here, and the on-site conversations and visuals become our unique content. For most media, reporting involves covering events organized by others; for us, content largely grows from our own direct experiences and presence.

Brand Vision

We don't pursue scale; instead, we strive for precision and perfection in everything we do. Today, REFLECTION remains a small operation. Between our locations in Asia and Europe, team members individually conduct interviews, write articles, take photographs, and produce videos. This "smallness" is our deliberate choice, allowing us to dedicate our time to what truly matters. We aspire for REFLECTION to be a media platform that stands on the strength of its content, rather than its volume, ensuring that truly thoughtful creations are seen, treated with respect, and continuously read by those who resonate with them.

Brand Philosophy
REFLECTION, a reflection. It's a passage we wrote early on: "Imagine a way of life, a longed-for place, or an ideal self, perceived and approached within the world of creation. Like a mirror, it reveals the 'me' on the other side of the plane, meeting him as he comes towards us, intertwining the light and shadow of practice and imagination in mutual reflection." What I've always wanted to be is that mirror, allowing art to be seen and understood, and enabling everyone willing to approach art to see a glimpse of themselves within it.
