Donna Art's debut participation at VOLTA Basel 2026 in Switzerland, featuring Taiwanese artist Fu Hao-Hsuan's solo exhibition "A Small Corner Budding in the Heart"

Donna Art makes its debut at VOLTA Basel 2026 in Switzerland, perfectly showcasing Taiwanese artist Fu Hao-Hsuan's solo exhibition "Taking Root - Imagined Corners Sprouting in My Heart," which has attracted significant attention from international collectors. This exhibition features eight exquisite oil paintings, seven of which are new works created specifically for the Swiss solo exhibition. Through the artist's continuously evolving creative trajectory in recent years, it guides viewers into an inner landscape situated between perception, memory, and emotion.

Fu Hao-Hsuan's (b. 1981) works often stem from the interplay of daily observations and inner feelings. Through poetic and metaphorical visual language, he constructs a psychological space between reality and imagination, reflecting the constantly emerging and evolving inner states of people throughout their growth journey.

Fu Hao-Hsuan's paintings have long focused on how people rediscover themselves in an uncertain world. Through imagined indoor spaces, gardens, sanctuaries, and symbolic landscapes, he constructs environments where vulnerability, trust, rest, and belonging can exist. Growing up in Taiwan, a place with a complex and constantly changing historical context, the artist focuses not only on external events themselves but also on the traces they leave in people's hearts. He does not directly depict conflict but rather explores how people seek refuge, reconnect with themselves, and build meaningful relationships with others. His works are not an escape from reality but rather create a space within reality where life can be repaired and reorganized.

Among them, the new work "A Tenderness of My Own" features a pristine white shower space placed within a pink garden, both intimate and open to nature. Bathing symbolizes a moment of shedding defenses and dropping pretenses; when both body and emotions are fully exposed, we are in greater need of non-judgmental safety and tenderness. The work depicts a space where vulnerability can be embraced, allowing people to shed their masks and openly face their true selves.

In the work "Opening the Umbrella Within," an umbrella quietly opens in a dark forest, as if reserving a small space for those not yet ready to move forward. It not only shelters from wind and rain but also embraces anxiety, hesitation, and vulnerability. The work portrays how, before reaching the next stage, one can temporarily pause, accommodate inner unease, and slowly gather the courage to set off again.
