At the Taipei WHATZ International Contemporary Art Fair, TBA The Bridge Art's 15 artists from Taiwan and abroad interpret "Diverse Media Creation and Exquisite Craftsmanship."

The allure of contemporary art lies in its boundary-breaking cross-disciplinary collisions and endless exploration of the mind's frontiers. At the WHATZ Art Fair 2026 International Contemporary Art Exhibition, Room 950 hosts TBA Art Bridge, Taiwan's largest art platform. The offline exhibition, centered on "Cross-Domain Flow and Material Dialogue," brings together 15 outstanding artists from Taiwan and abroad, each with diverse backgrounds and distinctive styles.

The exhibited works not only feature grand themes and delicate emotions but also present an ultimate visual experience of "diverse exhibits and unique media." Ranging from classical oil paintings, contemporary acrylics, and Eastern ink wash, to rare natural gemstones, gold leaf mixed media, Turkish marbleized floating paintings, and three-dimensional ceramic sculptures, as well as internationally popular contemporary classic character sculptures, they lead viewers into a contemporary art feast that is both intellectual and healing.

A curatorial highlight of Room 950 this time is that each creator views art as a pure medium of translation. Whether they are scientists spanning AI technology, senior international fashion designers, professional performance dancers, creators awakened through art therapy, or internationally renowned European and American contemporary art collectives, they all use their highly recognizable artistic language to strip away the labels and personas of real society.

In the exhibition space, the application of various "unique media" and contemporary symbols is astonishing: there's "gemstone art" that integrates natural precious gemstones with gold leaf, Turkish marbleized paintings created by the flow of colors on water, modern surreal creations combining bas-relief with pure gold leaf, hand-painted objects that transform dance movements into unrestrained abstract lines, and the blank canvas vocabulary that transcends national borders and traditional figure depiction. The collision of diverse media layers within Room 950, breaking the two-dimensional limitations of traditional canvases, imbues the space with a tangible "thickness of time" and "weight of emotion."

Room 950 TBA Art Bridge: Selected Profiles and Creative Highlights of 15 Exhibiting Artists

1. Zhan Xingyue |Cross-Domain Translation of Technology and Sensibility Currently residing in Japan, she is pursuing a Master's in AI at the European University of Madrid and previously worked as a senior music producer. Having long been immersed in the entertainment and technology industries, which are often filled with "labels," she chose to pick up a paintbrush, using acrylics as her medium, to transform art into a sensitive translation that big data cannot touch. Her works aim to guide viewers to shed external frameworks and capture the most fundamental and purest true self of life.

2. Guan Sicen |Visual Interweaving of Fashion Context and Grotesque Aesthetics A graduate of National Taiwan University's Department of Economics, she also holds a Master's in Visual Arts and Technology from New York University (NYU) and a Fashion Design degree from Parsons School of Design. She possesses over 20 years of experience in international fashion and apparel industrial design. Using oil paints, acrylics, and charcoal as her core media, she transforms her keen sense of fashion trends into artistic exploration. Her works feature unrestrained and penetrating lines, imbued with a microscopic grotesque aesthetic, engaging in a deep dialogue with contemporary fashion symbols.

3. Hsieh Hsing-Yi |Consciousness Flow of Philosophical Meditation and Healing Art Possessing a profound philosophical background and extensive experience in spiritual research and exploration. Since dedicating herself to creation in 2021, her inspiration largely stems from insights gained during meditation. Her works blend diverse media with translucent, layered acrylic brushstrokes, exhibiting a free and boundless style. They seem to engage in a dialogue of consciousness between color and transparency, presenting an endless exploration of cosmic love, deeply imbued with emotional flow and qualities of spiritual healing.

4. Alfred Fang|Lyrical Abstraction and Spacetime Flow of a World Traveler. Having studied under legendary New York School master Larry Poons, he was awarded the "Red Dot Award" for Best Masterpiece of the Year by the Art Students League of New York, and his work is permanently collected. His pieces, rooted in lyrical abstract acrylics, skillfully blend elements of Eastern and Western painting styles. The extremely rich color layers and powerful brushwork allow viewers to experience distinctly different spatial flows and artistic moods, shifting with time and personal feeling.

5. Tina Chiu|Internationally renowned for "Gem Art," Tina Chiu is an acclaimed gem artist and jewelry designer holding a professional certification from the GIA (Gemological Institute of America). Her large-scale masterpieces have been exhibited at the Louvre International Art Exhibition in France, and her works have even been featured on official stamps in multiple countries. She pioneered "Gem Art," using natural precious gemstones and gold leaf as her artistic language, seamlessly blending dramatic narrative with jewelry expertise to create highly storytelling and impactful visual effects.

6. Chang Peiling|International Pioneer of Marbling Art and the Power of Flow Healing. A pioneer in international marbling art education, she was awarded the Silver Prize and Best Creativity Award at the 2024 World Heritage Painting Competition. She specializes in Ebru Turkish marbling, flow painting, and mixed-media creations. By transforming the natural blending and random collisions of colors on water into physical paintings, she visualizes elusive inner flows, conveying a powerful and comforting artistic healing power.

7. Kate Huang|Contemporary Awareness of Self-Positioning and Balance. A graduate of the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of the Arts, her works primarily use acrylics and canvas to deeply explore individual self-positioning and value in the social media era. Through layers of rational analysis and stacked color brushstrokes, she unfolds a dialogue between the self and the world on canvas, guiding viewers to achieve a clear balance of the self, both internally and in the eyes of others.

8. Tsai Yu-Jou|Modern Surreal Reliefs Caring for All Living Things. Holding a Master of Fine Arts from National Taiwan Normal University, she has been selected multiple times for the Salon d'Automne in France and international artist competitions. Her works utilize acrylics, pure gold leaf, mixed media, and delicate bas-relief, transitioning from traditional realism to a modern surreal style. Drawing core inspiration from human figures and endangered flora and fauna, her pieces profoundly narrate the survival crisis under contemporary climate change, embodying a grand vision of coexistence for all beings.

9. Mr.Likey|Humorous Deconstruction of New York Street Culture and Pop Symbols. A graduate of the University of the Arts (UArts) in the US, Mr.Likey is deeply influenced by American cartoons and New York street culture, and was invited as a featured artist for the Shanghai Trend Culture Expo. He excels at using acrylics to reassemble and humorously deconstruct well-known pop symbols and classic cartoon characters, creating new artworks that are color-saturated, full of contemporary pop vitality, and satirical humor.

10. Hsieh Yun-Chen|This artist creates a humorous world of pure, resonant deities, drawing deeply from Eastern and Western myths and folklore, and inspired by supernatural beings and Hayao Miyazaki's animated works. Through two distinctive mediums – ink wash illustrations and ceramic sculptures – she constructs a unique and warm "divine realm." Her humorous and healing style showcases the pure vitality of these deities, making her art a gentle medium for evoking precious, pure emotional resonance from deep within the heart.

11. Olivia Wang |Sculpting Three-Dimensional Space on a Flat Canvas A contemporary emerging artist who advocates for "sculpting space on canvas." During her creative process, she doesn't pre-set a complete composition but rather follows the flow of vision and intuition. Through the heavy layering of oil paints, the movement of scrapers, and the covering of pigments, subtle gaps and layers are formed between colors. The originally flat canvas is thus imbued with direction and depth, constructing a sensory field that can be entered and explored.

12. Karen Chiu |Urban Alienation and Gentle Acceptance in the Social Media Age An artist from a non-academic background with interdisciplinary independent thinking, she founded the art education brand "Painting Stage." Using oil painting as her primary medium, she habitually mixes colors directly on the canvas, creating a thick impasto texture, like rock, bearing the marks of time, through layering and wiping. Her works focus on modern people's "alienation and desire for connection," with floating balloons or impossible animals placed within the scenes becoming gentle symbols of respite from daily pressures.

13. Tseng Hao-Jan |Untitled Abstraction of Dance Rhythm and Absolute Freedom With a dual identity as both a professional dancer and an abstract painter, his artistic creations also extend to physical objects like hand-painted hats and shoes. He uses acrylics for bold creations, perfectly transforming the dynamic rhythms of dance into unrestrained abstract lines on canvas. All his works are "untitled," without limitations or frameworks, allowing unbridled imagination to lead viewers' minds to absolute ease and freedom.

14. Sarena Lo |Poetic Watercolors and Spiritual Nurturing from Nature Her creative talent was unexpectedly awakened when she accompanied her child to art therapy. She loves hiking and traveling, integrating her keen observations of nature, flowers, cats, and rabbits into her creations. Using delicate and refined watercolors as her core medium, she transforms travel experiences and daily inspirations into poetic, elegantly brushed scenes, showcasing art's wonderful power to soothe the soul.

15. Leo & Steph |Indefinable Inner Projection and Spiritual Essence The contemporary masterpiece "KID CUP," co-created by the French and Brazilian contemporary artist duo Leo & Steph, features a classic character with no face, gender, or age. Its "indefinable" contemporary visual characteristic symbolizes the "inner child" within everyone, reflecting their unique spiritual essence. This work transcends traditional depictions of figures, becoming a blank canvas that accommodates viewers' own emotions and conscious projections, gently reminding people of the profound artistic journey of reconnecting with their true selves.
